Stream Information

Progressive Soundscapes Radio's webcast runs on nullsoft Shoutcast. We simulcast 2 different streams that you may tune into 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Each stream plays identical content with different bitrates, one being a 32kbps mono signal the other being a 80kbps stereo signal. Both streams can be accessed directly through our website by clicking on the appropriate link on the sidebar.

Our streams

http://216.66.69.90:8090/listen.pls: Our 80kbps stereo stream is suitable for listeners on broadband, DSL, T1, T3 or other high speed connections.

http://216.66.69.90:8092/listen.pls: Our 32kbps mono stream is suitable for listeners on dial up connections.

What you need to listen

All you need to listen to our stream is a player that is compatible with streaming mp3 audio.

Nullsoft recommends these players:
Winamp for Windows users
Audion for Mac users
XMMS for Linux/X Windows users

Sound quality

Higher bandwidth streams are available to internet broadcasters that provide near CD quality sound. There are basically 2 reasons we do not do this:

1. The streams we offer are of sufficient quality to provide a pleasant listening experience and promote the music of the artists we feature without exposing those artists to piracy. If you like what you hear on this station please support those artists.

2. Residential upload bandwith is somewhat limited in certain locations. In order for our DJs to simulcast on 2 streams they must have available the sum of both streams (presently 112kbps). So if hypothetically we went to 96k on our stereo stream some of our DJs wouldn't have enough bandwidth available to broadcast on the 32k stream...and at this point we still want to provide music for dial-up users.
